◆ Form-finding, structure & fabrication logic
A layered parametric market roof for hot-dry Cairo, derived from the existing building's own geometry.
The veil form is projected and deconstructed from the existing roof geometry — NURBS curves, ruled surfaces and control points generate a new top surface. A two-layer roof system controls direct sunlight: a top shading pattern and a subdivided base mesh distribute load and light.
Iterative studies across load, scale and coordinate parameters tune the shading density and structural support, wrapping the historic Bab al-Luq market in a contemporary computational skin that respects its climate and context.
